Blog Hop -Encouragement

I am very encouraged today. I hope to encourage you by sharing my story.

I have always wanted to have a close relationship with my sister, but until recent years, we always seemed to be hit and miss with one another. Even though we have always loved on another, our relationship had very little depth.

We are seven years apart and I am the older sister. I remember after I got married, my sister was only fourteen, I would have her over and not want to take her home. She would get so frustrated with me and eventually she stopped coming.

There were many other times over the years where I tried to push myself on her. I realize now that I was trying to force her into a relationship with me and in doing so, I pushed her away.

The Lord helped me to just let go and hope that one day, He would bring us together to build a relationship that was based on a mutual love, respect, admiration and trust in one another. It has been almost 13 years and I can finally say that my sister is becoming one of my very best friends.

This never would have happened if I had continued to try and change her heart toward me. When we trust the Lord to do what we cannot, in us and in others, the seemingly impossible can happen. God is able to do above and beyond what we can only imagine.

"Now to Him, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do super-abundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]-" Ephesians 3:20AMP

My sister and my niece came from Ohio, to visit us this week. Our relationship is growing. I trust that the lord will continue to do beyond what I could ever hope for!

Lets talk Grace! Please leave a comment and share something encouraging, or a way this post encourages you! I try to respond to the comments you leave, so please check back. Lets talk Grace!

Sweet one, I understand. I too am 9 years older than my sister. God's plan is to redeem her and I hope and pray that somehow I can be part of that restoration.

Blessings to you dear one, and thanks for the encouragement that with God, all things are possible.

I am so happy that your relationship with your sister is in the restoration phase. With God's help anything is possible. I too, have had the golden moment to have the relationship I have always wanted with my younger sister despite the 14 year age difference between us.

Neither of us, talks about the past since nothing we can talk about will change it, it's in the past. We only now focus on the present and the future, and we see opportunity in every day we get time to spend with one another.

When Jesus said, "Where two or more are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them," he was talking about reconciliation in relationships. When two estranged brothers or sisters share a meal, a handshake or a hug, God smiles big!

That's great that you and your sister are becoming closer. May the relationship continue to grow and be held together with the bond that comes from His love. God bless.

I'm so happy it is working out and you are becoming close to your sister. There is nothing like a bond between sisters.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Thanks so much for stopping by and the added blessing of becoming a follower!! I loved reading your post! I have an older sister and I have been praying that she and I would become closer. It can be tense at times because she isn't a believer and seems to resent my Christianity. But, I continue to love her and pray that God will build the relationship. Thank you for the hope!!

Ah, I wish for a closer relationship with my sister, too. We are only 3 1/2 years apart in age, but many, many miles separate us. And the distance has been long for probably 15-16 years.
Oh, this was supposed to be encouraging, wasn't it. *sheepish grin*
In all honesty, you have reminded me that nothing is too difficult for our God. He can bring my sister and I close. Thanks for the encouragement!

And, truly, thank you for your part in inspiring my Keeping It Real post Tuesday. I was starting to get stressed about how I was going to post something each day, because that is my habit. And then it hit me - I NEED to keep it real! Even when that means admitting that I can't keep posting.

What an awesome encouraging post! God sure does like to surprise us, doesn't He? And most of the time, WAY beyond our expectations. Praise Him!

Have a wonderful weekend my friend and be blessed!
