Okay, so, I have been thinking..."I would really like to improve my blog design."
I want it to be more...colorful, I love orange! I want to add more pictures, and I would like to get rid of the "block" look.
I know there are a multitude of places to look for a new template, but I wanted to know if you guys could give me any pointers or tips.
Any suggestions?

nope, when you get some, pass them along to me,,LOL...
I have met a great blogger who willingly shares her blog designs for free. She is truly inspirational with her love for the Lord and her pictures, too are amazing. If you would love to check the backgrounds she offers, come to my site and click on "Free Blogger Backgrounds by Simply Heather" in my blog roll. May you find something that will interest you. God bless.
Angela- will do you may want to check out RCUBEs blog roll too.
RCUBEs - Thanks a bunch! I will check that out!
I wish I could help you, Daveda, but I can blow up a computer just by looking at it wrong. I think I'll check Heather out, too.
I used to change my blog design every week and found these in my search.

To make a header you can use
www.scrapblog.com. You can add photos to it and it's pretty easy to use. Just publish it then export it as a JPG file and save to your computer then download it to your blog as your header.
If I can be of any help just let me know, I love playing around with blog design.
:)
I am in the process of getting a new blog design to. Tinika does blog designs, her site is http://meandyouplus2.blogspot.com/
Thank for following my blog, The Writer Today.
I use pictures form photobucket.
Copy and paste them into right into your post. There is a logo for blogger under the photo. It shows-the logo- as you move the mouse on it.
If you want pics in your sidebar-Click layout, then add a gadget, scroll to find text and copy and paste there. you can click and drag the pics wherever you want them to be. (You can adjust the size of the pics by clicking on the pic. Little white squares will show. Moving them around adjusts it.
Badadbing! :0)
They show bad pics even when you are looking for good pics. so be careful.
If you can figure out how to switch templates let me know. I figured out how to do it with the cutest blog on the block. But I wasn't able to delete the old template from blogger, so I had two of them showing. LOL
Lena, the person who helped me with my blog has a lot of awesome free templates. Here is her blog:
